In Reply To: Dear Vault Member: If you are interested in IT and E-Commerce then you should definitely check out the MIT Sloan School of Management Program. It is one of the best in the world in these two areas. Sloan offers three options that may appeal to you: (1)a concentration (similiar to a major) in Elcetronic Commerce and Marketing, (2) a concentration in Information Technology and Business Transformation where the focus is on leveraging IT to transform businesses - from a strategic management viewpoint, or (3) a self-designed concentration. MIT is at the forefront of the technology revolution so it should come as no surprise that their Business School leverages this advantage, making MIT SLoan the premier B-school for innovation, entrepreneurship, e-commerce, and the strategic application of technology. In fact, I doubt you could find a better program if your focus is IT and E-Commerce. Another choice to explore would be Kellogg's program. They have a well-developed E-commerce track and also have a track featuring IT. However, no other school will come close to the MIT Sloan program. Stanford also has a respected E-Commerce program and IT focus from a general management perspective. If your focus is on IT then you will probably not get the concentration from the Stanford program that you could get at MIT Sloan. Carnegie-Mellon also has a strong E-Commerce and IT program. You may want to check them out. Outside of those few I have metnioned, I cannot think of any other programs that distinguish themselves in this regard. Best of luck in your search for the right program for you. Just keep the focus on finding the right program for you and you will be head and shoulders above others applying to B-School.
Message: What about Wharton? They also have an E-commerce concentration. Isn't Sloan and MIT a bit corky?
