In Reply To: I'm quite new to European schools but their programs sound interesting to me. So I need some more insights. Are LBS and LSE related? Which one is more prestigious? If I want to work in a top i-banking, which one is the best to go, MiF at LBS, MiF at Cambridge and MS in Fin. and Econ. at LSE? If I can get into a top 10 MBA program in the US, then I'll take it. But if not, I'll seriously consider the above 1-year programs. I think it's a good deal to get a Master within a year. Any comments? Thanx.
Message: LSE and LBS are not related. LBS has a great MBA programme and from what I hear their international finance is very good too. LSE is an intensely academic and theoretical place and it is expected that you write at Journal-Level for all MSc papers. Some of the best economists in the world (Hayek, Fischer, Dornbusch, Mundell, Sen) come out of LSE and banks find that academic side very attractive. The MSc Finance and Economics is nearly impossible to get in to (>10%), so chances are if you don't get in to a good B-School you wouldn't get into LSE. That being said, LBS is much better option if you are more interested in the practical side of things. LBS has a great reputation in the City, but I believe that LSE has better brand-name on Wall Street. (Rubin is a LSE grad). Hope that helps.
