That's pretty pathetic. You are a slave to your job. Tell your family to f$#k off because they aren't as important as your job.
I-bankers are just well paid slaves. Can we say "no autonomy"?

I don't think that is necessarily pathetic. I-banking associates might have crappy lives, but it gets better. They are also well compensated. As long as the family recognizes the tradeoff and is willing to make sacrifice, it shouldn't be a problem.
It's no different than having a physician for a spouse. My friend's wife canceling important obligations is not uncommon.
