It's true there are PhDs in quantiative disciplines on structuring desks, but it isn't a requirement. I structure mortgage back securities for a top 3 bulge bracket player, and most of my colleagues are not PhDs. About 50% are MBAs and 40% are BAs. They will look for quantiative aptitude, but you don't need a PhD to demonstrate it. That's ridiculous. |
