I was trying to track down some info on Carnegie Mellon's 1yr Masters in eCommerce. I think the program is wrapping up it's first year. Does anyone know how the grads are making out on job offers, and if the program was worth it? |

My friend is getting his masters there. He said that while it sounded like a great program, it had two flaws: (1) Recruiters -No one knows what to do with a Masters in eCommerce. Is it a specialized MBA or is it a CS degree? If it is a business type program, then you are linked with the business school, whose name brand is second tier. If the recruiters perceive the degree to be a CS degree then you are shut out of business jobs. Recruiters also don't know about the program and don't go to recruit the graduate students. I got the sense that the prospects didn't look all that great (2) Many of the fellow students in the program are people who never had significant business experience.
Anyway he says you can always look up www.ecom.cmu.edu if you haven't done so already.
