Texas is definitely a more broadly recognized program than A&M. Actually I've never really known of any A&M MBAs except at Andersen where they had the same jobs as those who came out of undergrad directly.
As far as going into Sell side, I think Texas would be okay, although I've not heard anything about Texas' Wall Street connections being particularly strong.
Buy side, I would really recommend that you go to one of the schools that has the visibility in that area: Chicago, CBS, Wharton, HBS, etc.

i thought the sell side industry is harder to get into than the buy side...???
going to texas would be ok for the sell side but not the buy side?? is this correct??
also...since everybody thinks Austin would be the better school than A&M..is there any good points about going to A&M for finance?
