Generally, it is more difficult to switch careers without doing an internship. That being said, it's not impossible. Just today I was talking with a 4th term 16 monther who switched from management consulting to banking without doing any internship.
I would say your chances of transition depend on what you have been doing in the IT industry for the last 10 years. Have you been writing code or have you been leading your company into new markets or new sales channels such as the internet. Even if you come from a programming background, consulting firms with an IT focus would probably be interested in talking to you. |

Hi,
Thanks for the input. I am curretly a project leader for a decision support system. In the current position apart from supporting the project, I do lot of data evaluation both external and that available within the company to see if we can give any more information to the sales analysts to help them gain better insight into the market forces. I have a lot of coding background though. Do you think I can get into information strategy consulting with this kind of background? Any input will be highly appreciated.
Thanks
