I have about 10 years of experience in IT industry and am planning to go for Columbia GBS 16 month program starting Jan 2001. Post-MBA plans are to get into IT strategy consulting/IT management. Can anyone tell me if internship (perceivably the only difference between these programs) is going to play a great role in the post-MBA placement scene. Thanks your thoughts/advice

Generally, it is more difficult to switch careers without doing an internship. That being said, it's not impossible. Just today I was talking with a 4th term 16 monther who switched from management consulting to banking without doing any internship.
I would say your chances of transition depend on what you have been doing in the IT industry for the last 10 years. Have you been writing code or have you been leading your company into new markets or new sales channels such as the internet. Even if you come from a programming background, consulting firms with an IT focus would probably be interested in talking to you.
