To All,
Please give me ur advice (EXPERIENCED REPEATERS).
I have a GMAT score of 680, AWA 4.5 & I'm interested in
taking GMAT again in 1st week of March. Before registering
with SYLVAN, I have following queries ----
1. How do ADCOMS see repeaters ? What is their policy towards
second administration of GMAT ? Do they differentiate
between first attempter's 720 & the one who got 720 in his
second attempt.
2. Suppose, i get a score less than 680 in my second attempt.
How do ADCOMS decide which one reflects my true abilities ?
Is a lesser sore going to put me in a disadvantageous position
or ADCOMS will take the highest of the two irrespective of
me getting less marks in the later test. Please clarify.
(NOTE : While answering, keep these B-Schools in mind UCLA,
Wharton, Kellog, Stanford, Harvard & texas-austin)
& reply accordingly.
Thanks

In spite of what some of this board's posters would lead you to believe, a 680 is still a very respectable score and is good enough to get you into all the places you mentioned. All of the top 10 B-schools have people who got 680 or less in their programs.
People are not admitted based on their GMATs. The GMAT is necessary, but not sufficient admission criteria. The ADCOMS use the GMAT to validate that an applicant has the ability to succeed in the program. They do not use it to admit people. That is why some people with 640s are in top 10 programs while others with 750+ are not admitted.
If you take the GMAT again, I think many ADCOMS would question your priorities. Besides, what if you do worse? The return doesn't justify the risk. I believe the best use of your time now is working on your essays and lining up your recommendations.
Best of luck.
