I know this may sound ridiculous, but should I retake the GMAT after scoring a 680?
I was in the 96th percentile on the verbal section, but only in the 59th percentile in quantitative, 90th percentile overall. There are a couple of reasons that I think I could do better on the quantitative part (I was sick the night before and didn't get much/any sleep; I got rattled on a couple of early questions and had to rush through the remaining ones). On the practice tests from the PowerPrep software, I scored 720 and 750. While I didn't anticipate those scores on the actual test, I did anticipate breaking the 700 barrier.
The thing is, I'm applying to School A and School B. A 680 would be slightly below average at School A but above average at School B. However, I don't have very impressive work experience on my resume (3+ years in IT with no management experience) and I am counting on my GMAT to be the clincher for either admission to School A or a nice scholarship package at School B.
If you were in a similar situation, what would you do? I'm leaning towards going with what I have, but I would hate to get left out of School A or not get maximum scholarship consideration at School B because of a score that I feel I could easily improve by getting one or two more questions correct.
School A is a top 25 school in all the rankings and School B is ranked in the 40's.
