There are a number of mailing lists and websites you should check out. Available work is just gushing through the streets in CA, but companies are seldom the best places to look since their HR staffs are so oversubscribed and can't answer all their email.
Join the Silicon Valley Webgrrls (www.svwebgrrls.com) and San Francisco Women on the Web (www.sfwow.org) mailing lists, to start. They distribute jobs regularly, as well as hosting lots of discussions that are a great place for you to start networking. The gold standard website for area jobs is www.craigslist.org; there are also all of the standard job-search boards like monster.com or Yahoo. The mailing lists are golden though; if you've already got a company picked out where you'd like to work, you've got a good chance of encountering an employee of that company in these groups.
