In Reply To: Anybody know of any careers outside of M&A, IBanking and VC that JD/MBA's usually pursue?
Message: I know of some who do financial planning, especially the estate planning side. The CFP may be a useful credential as well if you plan to go into this type of fee based planning. However, the guy that I know is primarily an academic who happens to be qualified to give financial advice to wealthy individuals and some institutions. He does so because he can come and go as he pleases and he like to help his friends. At the same time, he can pursue other activities and interests. The hours are GREAT and the pay is good, but if you have to build a book from scratch then you may be a little dissapointed with the nature of the work at first. I don't think it would be easy to build a book of clients from scratch. If you already have good connections and you want a career where you can make a good living and set your own hours, then this is it.
