McKinsey insider, I didn't bother to read your last long message regarding teaching someone a lesson. Your assumption about there is something lacking in the essays is completely wrong for the international applications. In most cases, there is nothing wrong or insuffient about their application. The schools simply want to give the candidates a "face time" to get a personal feeling and the candidate's language skills. One admission director told me he would call international to conduct phone interviews if in-personal interviews are not possible. If you don't have the knowledge of a particular situation, keep your mouth shut. Here is a lesson for you: general rules do not apply for specific circumstances. |

Insider, since, you're obviously ADD, let me distill it for you.
Mutually Exclusive, Collectively Exhaustive: you've posed one possible explanation. It may very well be true. I'm not asserting that it is not.
Even if ALL foreign applicants are interviewed before they are accepted -- a fact which is not true I know for a fact. It is also a fact that some applicants are interviewed because the board wants additional information.
Why prepare only for the former case rather than taking stake of the entire situation, testing other possibilities?
I'm not taking any more time with this thread. Insider, you clearly have an ax to grind. Do it elsewhere. In the meantime, Here you show only your own weakness in logical thinking.
