I couldn't agree more! I recently graduated from a top medical school, and realized I hate clinical medicine. Whining, unappreciated patients, being the gimp for HMO's, and dealing with one patient at a time in a closed examiningroom for the remainder of my life - not thanks!
I'm much more interested in the exciting, interactive and creative environment that a business career can offer. I'm starting B-school in the fall (at a LOW ranked school because I'm too late for deadlines and don't want to do another crappy year of residency working 80 - 100 hr weeks for annual pay of $35K!) and look forward to getting into healthcare management or consulting. |

I agree with the previous poster... wait a year to apply to a top B-school. Getting an MBA from a top school gives you a much wider range of choices than a lower ranked school. Unless you've decided on a career that doesn't require a top-tier MBA, DON'T limit your choices by making a hasty one now!
Do locum tenens work or ER or Urgent Care work somewhere if you just can't stand doing another year of residency...
