In Reply To: Not to complicate things further, but I actually think Fuqua has had a better reputation than Darden for the last few years. This has begun to filter out into the business school rankings: Darden fell to 15 in the US News and World Report rankings for 2001, while Fuqua is still 8. Tuck came in at 11, while Yale was 12. I'd actually rank things at: Fuqua, Tuck, then Yale and Darden. (both Yale and Darden are in a state of flux due to curriculum changes) That said: At this stage, it should be all about preference and learning styles. I noticed that of the four schools you mentioned, each has a dramatic different approach towards teaching. Darden, for instance, uses the case method program. It's academic program is one of the most strenous and difficult in the country. Yale, on the other hand, has a very nice public management program (if not the best in the country), but is working on building up its other areas, including finance. Your first focus should be on "how I can learn." If you can, ask if you can sit in on classes in each of these schools one more time to get a feel for which type of environment can teach you the most. Second issue: Where are you going to work? All of these schools have strong reputations. However, these are stronger in some geographical areas than others. Darden and Fuqua might be better respected in the South, while Tuck and Yale would be in the Northeast. Third issue: Which environment do you feel more comfortable in? Tuck students belong to a tight-nit, close community. On the other hand, that community is somewhat sheltered and cut-off. Fuqua's environment has a nice student community, is fairly open, and while I find "Research Triangle" (the area where Duke is located) a tad slow for my tastes, it is probably the most bustling of the four (except maybe Yale). Darden: picturesque, students are very tight, but Charlottesville is again a tad "closed-off" for my tastes (of the four, it is definitely better than Tuck but not as good as Duke). People there are friendly, but it can get stressful there because of the academic rigors. Yale: Not certain. It has been a while since I have been up there. I have visited there, but I am not certain my perceptions are still accurate so I will reframe from commenting. Hope this helps.
