Don't stress over what Brian R. posted; even though you did a great job bashing his arguement. Columbia is an amazing B-School, to say it isn't in the same ranks as MIT/Wharton/Kellogg/Stanford/etc. is myopic and ignorant. Those who choose schools because of their peer's preception of those schools are dead in the water. Research the schools and realize the opportunities for yourself. I'll give you a great example; a friend of mine applied to both Stern and Duke (He's from NYC) and was accepted to both. He choose Duke over Stern purely on rankings. He started school Sept. 99 and I spoke with him last week; we'll to make a long story short, he's miserable, he regrets the decision and wishes he was still in NYC. I think this speaks volumes. |

Earl, you didn't state the reasons that make your friend regret his choice of Duke over Stern. Your info. is misleading and harmful. Duke's general management is much stronger than Stern's. It all depends on what your friend's interests are,i.e. if he is interested in Wall Street, he should have never left NY. Or perhaps he's just reminiscent about his fast lane life in the sleepless city. If he's miserable at Fuqua, he would have been miserable at Stern. What a loser!
