More than a month ago, I was dinged by a top 20 program. This afternoon I received an email from the admissions director which stated:
"I know this may be quite a surprise coming after a deny decision. Let me explain. Periodically, as a matter of ongoing quality control, we re-review a handful of denied applications for reconsideration. The Admissions Committee has selected your file out of hundreds at this time for review. I am very happy to say that I concur with them."
Is this because the school doesn't use a wait list, and is not yielding as many admits as expected, or is this really a QC thing? Has anyone else had a similar experience?
Seems rather shady, but hey - it's the best place I've gotten accepted to. |
