In Reply To: Okay, it is clear that no one is going to convince you to think otherwise on this issue. It is also clear that you are one of those people who is smart but not brilliant. You studied a lot and worked hard to receive the very good grades on your ugrad transcripts. You seem a bit insecure, intent on proving that one can quantify intelligence by looking at your grades. You'll do very well in the business world, but never make it into the executive ranks. Why? Because you lack vision. You're more concerned with minutiae (like your grades and the grades of others), which will cloud your ability to think like an executive. Don't take this personally, I'm no genius myself. I just think it is important to recognize weaknesses. Instead of taking advantage of my top ugrad school and working hard to get good grades, I skated by drunk off my ass with a 3.0. Academic discipline was my weakness. I'll see you in the topmost echelons of middle management -- don't worry, we'll still very easily pull six figures, maybe even a half-mil; we'll just never be CEO's.
Message: Huh ? I don't get your inferences re: my post. I wasn't trying to convey anything other than was said, and your insights into my abilities/accomplishments are off target. I don't profess to have followed my observation, merely that anyone can do anything with the proper degree of hard work, discipline, etc. My grades were good and I worked reasonably hard, but I could have worked much harder. That's it. I don't beat my dog, my parents didn't neglect me, I'm not a Mets fan. Also my post in no way validates that grades quantify intelligence. Sometimes you have to take things at face value. By the way, I am a controller of a hedge fund.
