In Reply To: Hi, I recently posted the same question, and somebody gave me excellent advice regarding a proper approach. Basically, seek out your mentors and well wishers who can attest to your contribution in the company. Than approach them formally, listing your reasons to pursue an MBA and your contributions from your own perspective. My own thought is that you should be careful about the reasons you state for going back to school. Rather than focusing on an aspect like the chances to get promoted &c., I would focus on more noble aspects like the need for more education to be more effective in what I do. Although I myself have yet to take these steps, I think properly positioning the request may get you excellent recommendations, and help you maintain good relations that you may want to preserve even after leaving the company. If you want additional comments on the subject, check out the response I got, under the title "Communicating schooling plans to mgr." Also, for marketing, Kellog GSM is reputed to have one of the best programs. Good Luck!
Message: Sorry, the correct topic I refer to in my message below is, "direct manager's recommendation."
