In Reply To: I guess that "nil" may be a little to pessimistic but I'm really concerned about my GPA being as low as it is. I'm also aware that 2 1/3 years of WE is not a lot by the standards of the top schools. Furthermore, my job does not fall into the ultra glamorous Consulting/I-Banking/Start-up category that the b-schools seem to value so much (and rightfully so in most cases.) Finally, a 710 GMAT was outstanding a few years ago but the polarization of top candidates towards the top schools combined with the increased number of smart people writing the GMAT moves it from outstanding to competitive in the context of my target schools. I've got some pretty cool extra-curricular/community service stuff but I think it would be stretch for it to compensate for an otherwise lacklustre profile. Mind you, given all that, I think I can spin my essays in such a way that my profile seems more exciting/desirable than it sounds in a poorly written quasi paragraph like this one and the one below.
Message: Put me in the shoes of the original poster; roughly thesame profile: same undergrad GPA (2.90), 705 GMAT, but just winding down a 2 year stint as an Investment Banking Analyst @ Merrill Lynch. Please advise.
