Congrats for the internship!
As far as I know, they get about 75% of their full-time hires from summer interns. They obviously prefer someone they know and who already has some training, so you should keep in mind that as long as you do your best & work hard, you will probably get an offer. My official offer letter (I will also be interning in NYC this summer) says that you are notified "at the end of the summer", from what I've heard it's within 2 weeks after you are done--however as Lehman has 2 "sets" (early and late summer), it might be different depending if you're in the first or second set.
As for preparation, I think the best thing to do is keep up with the news and talk with people who've already interned with them, to get a good idea of what you'll be doing. They will train us anyways, so reading on your own might not be particularly useful..
This is just my take on it..(I'm a sophomore so I'm a novice at this.) Hopefully more people will give some more expert advice, which I would also find very useful.

I also am a sophomore, and will be interning in NYC this summer at either a botique IB or a F500. I will be going through my final interviews this coming week.
