This will probably one of the hardest decisions you ever have to make. I don't think it will make that much different if you go to night school. If your job is anything like mine I already spend 12 hours or more at the office and by the time I get home I see my kids for 30 minutes before they go to bed. That's why I started telecommuting 2 days a week. There are tons of resources on the web - even how to write a proposal to convince your employer to allow it. I am the first person in our firm to do it so it's possible. It will give you more time with your children, time to get housework done, and time to go to school. Don't live on loans unless you plan on going into IP or something. You'll never get out of debt and if something happened, you won't have reserves to take from for very long. A very good book to start with is Jonni McCoy's Living on One Income in a Two Income World. Even if you have two incomes it's a great idea to live on one. There are also tons of recipes for those days when you don't have time to cook - you can even cook a month ahead of time. Hope this helps a little.
