Being Asian will HURT your chances of college admittance and not help it.
Asians, on average, have a higher IQ than white people. Due to the nature of statistics, this means that at the very highest levels of ability, which is what the elite schools are looking for, there will be more Asians than whites.
With colleges wanting an ethinc mix of students that reflects the overall mix of society, they will therefore greatly go out of their way to admit blacks who score the lowest on ability tests, but they will do zero to go out of their way to recruit Asians. Maybe they even make it harder for Asians? Who knows the mysterios of the admissions offices?
Partially to discriminate against Asians, the colleges place high importance of things like "leadership" and athletics, things that Asians are not strong in. (Yes, I know it's a stereotype, that of the quite shy Asian who spends hours studying to get high grades and doesn't do much else. Many Asians hate this stereotype, but I have personally known many Asian people that fit that stereotype perfectly. There were many Asian people where I went to high school.) |

bob_d,
I'm curious as to where you got your information from that Asians have higher IQ's than white's. Were you one of the author's of the "Bell Curve"?
