In Reply To: Hi all, I graduate from May from a top tier liberal arts school and have an eye on law school. I need a break from the books and some time in the "real world," however, so I was wondering if anybody had any suggestions about what I should pursue for the next couple years before I (hopefully) enter law school. What kind of job should I look for? What would impress l-school admissions panels? Any and all suggestions, quips, and warnings would be appreciated. Thanks... WBH
Message: Law school is best entered into right out of undergraduate school. Legal employers don't care much about pre-law school employment. Nor do law school admissions. You must be confusing law school with business school. At busines school they DO care very much about what job you did after undergraduate school. Jobs with management experience, and jobs that pay lots of money are both looked upon favorably. (If you look at the average salary of pre-Harvard MBAs, then it's clear that only those with very high salaries, as a rule, get admitted to Harvard Business School.) Of course, law school is a pretty bad deal unless you get into the top 14. So maybe this is a good time to figure out something else to do with your life.
