Message: I know these messages crop up every 5 minutes, but if I may... I am thinking of attending law school in a year or so. Not to go into business, not simply to attain an advanced degree, but to become a lawyer. I am not interested in being filthy rich. I want a balance between enjoying what I do and earning a decent living. I am not afraid to work hard - in fact, i welcome the challenge. Here are my qualifications: I have a 3.0 GPA from William & Mary. (I know this is low, I had myself a good time, and i have no regrets... well, maybe i could have worked harder). I test well and I imagine I will do fairly well on the LSAT - I got a 720 Verbal on the SAT. I have been employed as an IT consultant for 2 1/2 years. While it is a good industry, it is not me, it doesn't play to my strengths, and I am looking to switch careers. Ok - so please, come at me with the practical advice. My favorite class in school was Business Law. I love to argue. I love to read, I love to write, I love logic, and I like to help people. It seems like a logical choice, right? I am skeptical because so many seem disenchanted with the law and with law school. Me, I have a feeling i will love law school. I wonder if many of the disenchanted went to law school because they didn't know what else to do, or because they were told it was the right thing to do, or because they thought they could get rich. I want to go into this with open eyes - what am I missing? Thanks to all who read this and reply. Also - should one go to the best school possible, or should geography play into it - i think i would like to end up working in VA, but I am not sure that 3 more years in Williamsburg, VA is the right move.
