establish relationships with (a) parters who will help you go in house eventually and (b) corporate counsels when doing work for them who could connect you with the right people. i think guardornark is right years 6-8 are too late, 4-5 is good for assoc. corp. counsel. he is also right about learning the in-house trade which is not necessarily big litigation. IP is a good area for large tech companies. I know a few who've gone in house at 2-3 yrs, and work with others. |
