In Reply To: Forgetting about admission rates, tuition, and the rest, where is the best law school for international law? I just don't have much of a clue. Most schools say they have an excellent program, but it's hard to discriminate on my own.
Message: It really depends on what you want to do. You will never go wrong the the big names (e.g., Yale, Harvard, Stanford, NYU, etc.). Beyond those, it depends. If you want to do European law, for instance, Tulane is strong because of it's civil law and common law combination. Also, they have a huge international LLM program and great overseas "summer abroad" programs. But - I go to Tulane, so please know I am likely biased. Other schools may have good programs depending on what kind of Int'l program you want and where you wish to work. West coast schools like Univ. of Wash have some connection to Asia; U. Texas and UCLA have some relation to Mexico, etc., if only because of proximity. When you look at schools claiming to be strong in an Int'l area, look for the number of classes and other opportunities (e.g., Int'l law journals) that are actually offered. One class is marketing - six is more of a program. Good Luck!
