In Reply To: Hi doctorwannabe, Congrats on your *wise* decision. There is a difference between wisdom and intellect, and you have demonstrated it well. Keep in mind that medical school, unlike law gets harder as you go. Focus on your studies. Although quality of school and rank isn't nearly as important, if you're after the choice specialties, you'll need to do well. Don't be discouraged. It's a long-term commitment. The residency will be the most difficult part of all. Pace yourself. Most people quit the 5-mile race of life with only a quarter-mile to the finish line. The last leg is always the toughest. Here's some math for you. 4 years college - now 25. 4 medical school - now 29 5 years of residency - now 34 Hey, you're 34 and making 200- 400K per year?? Not bad. Most people won't see 50-75 or 125 in their lifetime. That's why DocMike needs to get a clue. No one feels sorry for him here, I assure you. It's self-indulgent spin. Best of luck!!
Message: With the exception of studying for the boards, the 3rd and 4rth year of medical school is a welcome change because you finally engage in clinical rotations. It's awesome. If you can get past the first two years of medical school, the 3rd and 4rth year is heaven. The 4rth year especially is nice. I actually partied a lot in my 4rth year. After I passed Step 2, I was in la la land. :-)
