Hmm. That's definitely important to me. I want to go to a top school but I don't know if I could hack it successfully. I went to a less competitive/collegial state school for undergrad. The last thing I want right now is cut-throat and winding up in the bottom of the class.

Actually the most brutal competition often takes place at the lower ranked schools. Not making top 10% or law review is not the end of the world at a top school. At lower tier schools your career is seriously hampered if not in the top of your class. At a top school your chances of appellate level clerkship are seriously affected but not your ability to gain employment.
