I'm a recruiter in CA. Someone had some great advice---there is a 2nd-tier school or 2 in every market. If you finish top 20% or better, you'll be OK.
In Los Angeles, it's Loyola. In Philly, it's Temple. In Chicago, Kent. In DC, GWU. NY, Fordham. But Loyolas are dead even in SF, and Fordham, Kent, and Temple are death in CA. I'll bet the same is true of many schools outside of their markets. Look at partners in Martindale to see what schools fly in which markets.
Good 2nd-15 schools (top grades needed):
Minnesota, Iowa, UTexas, Georgetown (overpriced), Hastings (SF), USC, ND (making a big comeback).
Vanderbilt and Northwestern and to a lesser degree, Virginia and Duke are often overlooked as tip-top schools.
Don't believe Washington & Lee's trumpeting of their Newsweek ratings. McGeorge in CA is looked down upon even in state, despite its good rating. Don't waste your money.
Best of luck. I'll be happy to answer emails. |
