In Reply To: Hey, I'm really desperate. I mean, I'm ambitious as hell, always have done very well at both college and university and probably will continue that way. But, as I browse the message boards I'm more and more led to the conclusion that - unless you are top 1 per cent at some very, very prestigious school - you don't have a chance. As for me, I'm top one per cent at Vienna University School of Law(Austria) and I'll get my LLM degree at some Ivy School in three years. Anyhow, until last year, the firms hired (as I read) "every warm body" but right now, they're laying off staff all over the country. Hell, anyone wanna share her or his optimism with me? Feel free to do so!
Message: When things are going well they are never going as well as people claim and when things are bad they are never as bad as people say they are. If you don't graduate for three years anyway, why are you worried? The economy will turn around by then. I am evidence of someone who did not fit the mold of the upper one percent of the upper one percent who got a good job. I start at an investment bank as an associate in about ten days making about $150K. I was middle of my class and always had fun in work and school. Just make sure you concentrate a lot of your efforts in to getting a job instead of wasting all of your time studying (but don't do shitty in school either). Don't worry so much.
