I'm presently deciding between Penn and Michigan for law school next year.
I'm out of state, so tuition doesn't matter. Also, I am presently at Michigan for undergrad, so I have been looking
forward to discovering a new place next year; however, I am not so set on
moving somewhere new that I would forsake my school's reputation. In anyone's
experiences, which school have they found to have a better "name" in the legal world and for recruiting? Students at both schools seem to be happy, so now I am looking at things like job placement and reputation as distinguishing factors. (I am looking to work for a large/med firm in in NYC, DC, Chicago, or SF) Also, I am interested in international, business, and internet law . . . does anyone know which schools may have an advantage for these disciplines? |

Michigan has a better national reputation, is NOT Ivy League (sorry, but it's not a plus in my book), and has what I think is a better location.
USNEWS rankings are nice, but if you want to find out what people actually think about a school, look exclusively at the reputation scores. Michigan wins out big over Penn here.
