Background:
(a) I worked at D&T Audit for 2 years
(b) I currently work for 3.5 billion foodcooperative
(c) Will attend 2nd tier school in fall 01.
Points:
(a) USNWR is key
(b) Perception is key
(c) Where you go to law school has a very significant impact on where you can obtain employment.
(d) Location is very important (Regional Schools)
For example: The University of Alabama is ranked like #46 per USNWR and Cardazzo is a 2nd tier. Nationally, they both fair pretty much the same however, in their own respective locals the story changes drastically. Univ. of Al. grads are hired by Alabama firms at approximately 90% + every year. Many 1st tier schools are regional just as 2nd tiers are.
3rd and 4th tier schools do not have great reputations, but probably do provide a decent legal education and sometimes at a reduced cost. Just look at their bar passage rate on USNWR.
(e) contact the schools career services for the schools you are interested in and find out who recruits there.
Also go on law firm websites and see where their associates went to school.
You may find that many schools you never thought were academically or ranked low by USNWR as strong have a significant prescence at many BIGLAW firms in your area.
Don't get caught up with what people say. You are an accountant, no? Verify statements by conducting your own research!
Good luck!

actually, I'm a junior to be. Interning at Andersen-federal tax. That's how I've been able to speak w/ so many attorneys.
All things equal, I would go to UCONN. The law school is supposed to be outstanding, and for in-state residents it's mad cheap.
Heard good things about their rep, but I would like to work for a Wall Street firm at least two years after graduating. Don't know if UCONN could do that for me.
You have work experience. Did that help w/ your admissions?
