cut to, upscale bar in midtown. sharply dressed man white teeth, gorgeous blond, middle-aged man with tobacco stained teeth slouch and ill-fitting suit.
loser man is nearly weeping.
loser: "go on. take her home and bang her brains out."
tears begin flowing
"i may not be smart. i may not have a first tier education or practice at a fancy white shoe biglaw firm. what i have is worth so much more than that. i have freedom."
cue patriotic music, zoom in on tears.
"freedeom to live in a walk-up studio in staten island. freedom to work from hand-me-down metal and patentized wood desk. freedom to handle drunk-driving cases on retainer. i may not have a lot of nice things, or dress in nice suits, but i place a high dollar figure on my freedoms"
zoom out. man is standing alone. camera pans to find sharp man already outside with his hand on blond's butt, getting into a taxi. pan back. bartender hands bill to loserman. zoom on check. includes all three drinks and has note "hahaha 9th tier loser." |
