In Reply To: In ways that sometimes amaze me. I don't have it in me to say such things that are negative because I'd like to maintain my composure. I was raised by my beloved Nana to speak only when you have something good to say. However, in this request, I'll say this I am perturbed when I come to read my thread to see miscellaneous topics in attachment. It really breaks me. The meanest thing I can say is there is an individual going on and saying negative things throughout these boards and trying to downgrade everyone. I can't help but say it but he is "a flippin idiot" as you so eloquently asked me to say. You made me smile for your request. If these posts of support keep coming up I'll be much better in no time. Thanks! A friend to you all! LocdKing
Message: By Author Tom Robbins, "Fierce Invalids Back From Hot Climates"..here is a quote from HIS "beloved nana": "When Switters was less than a year old, his grandmother had stood before his highchair, her hands on her still glamorous hips. "Your're starting to jabber like a damn disc jockey', she said. "Pretty soon you'll be having a name for me, so I want to make this clear: you are NOT to insult me with one of those de'classe' G words, like granny or grams or gramma or whatever, you understand; and if you EVER call me nannie or nana or nonna---or moomaw or big mama or mawmaw---I'll bust your little chops. I'm aware that it's innate in the human infant to produce M sounds followed by soft vowels in response to maternalistic stimuli, so if you find it primally necessary to label me with something of that ilk, then let it be "maestra". Maestra. Okay? That's the feminine form of the Italian word for "master" or "teacher". I don't know if I'll ever teach you anything worthwhile, and I sure as hell don't want to be anybody's master, but at least maestra has got some dignity. Now try saying it." Now there's a Grandmother I would like to have met! The rest of the book goes on with more from this groovey lady.
