In Reply To: I need some advice. I graduated from a very-well regarded law school last year, Florida, and I can't find a job. My grades were good (top %30), and I have a good personality, but I haven't been able to find a job that pays more than $45K. I was making $50K BEFORE going to law school, and now I'm reconsidering my decision. Actually, I'm in my second law-related job right now. I work in Jacksonville (small firm). I'm thinking about going back to what I was doing before (managing a used car lot). I feel like I was misled by the law school. Do I have a cause of action for fraud against UF? Would I be crazy to quit law? Has anyone else been in my shoes? I can't be the only one, Florida's law school is one of the BEST in the country, arguably better than Harvard in terms of hiring prospects in Florida. Any advice, no matter how brutal, would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Message: Your tale of not making much money after graduating from a non top-14 law school sounds pretty believable to me. I went to law school and could only find loser jobs. Now I make well over $60K in computer programming. The key to changing careers was to take law school off of my resume and make up some lie about what I was doing during that time. No one wanted to hire me for an entry level position in another field with a law degree. The $60K + salary sucks compared to what BIGLAW associates make, but there is no way I can ever get a job in BIGLAW and it pays more than what a lot of my classmates from law school are making as lawyers.
