That's what everyone asked me when I was thinking about the LLM. "Do you want to teach?"
It should provide you a path to academia. However, be careful in selecting the schools you apply to.
Certain schools are known as "feeders" into academia. Also, some are known for specific LLM concentartions.
Do your research and you should be able to achieve the result you desire.
