I am going to be starting law school in the Fall, and plan on specializing in administrative law with a possible further specialization in environmental law. When I look at the salaries and opportunities at State and Federal government agencies, the JAG Corps looks like a decent alternative for three years. That is, the pay, travel opportunities, and greater job responsibility early on seem like a good way to start a legal career. Granted, I already have some experience in the Army (6 years in the Reserves as an enlisted soldier) but I would like further insight into this path. What are the working conditions like? What are the possible advantages and disadvantages? I have already gone to the JAG information pages for the Army, Air Force, and Navy, but would like some further qualitative insight.
