In Reply To: I want to work in NYC (I think). I have been accepted to Fordham, Northwestern and Cornell. Fordham is 3rd as far as recruitment in NYC goes, but the other 2 schools are ranked higher. Placement rates for cornell and fordham are the same, but cornell and northwestern have a more national and, in the case of cornell , international presence. How to pick? I looked at location and fordham obviously wins. I'm guessing that's one of the reasons cornell's placement is comparable to Fordham's. I hear Ithaca is quite snowy and cold, nevertheless cornell might offer me opportunities outside of law like consulting and classes at the Johnson school while NU would allow me to take classes at kellogg. Any input would be appreciated
Message: I don't know what the placement rates in NYC are for Northwestern, but in terms of a rank/location matrix, Cornell is your best bet. Even though it's not located in NYC, you'll get more NYLaw opportunities coming from Cornell over Fordham. It's an ivy and holds a much greater amount of prestige at BIGLAW compared to Fordham - which has a decent name but a great location. Ithica is also much more affordable than NYC to live as a student!
