I am wondering what will be the impact of a recession on the legal industry compared to other parts of the economy. I heard one person say that during the '92 recession, hiring froze up big time. I am also wondering what the effect a recession would have on law school applications. Common sense might suggest that they would go up b/c people will avoid the open market, but I'm not quite sure. Does anyone know what happened here during the '92 recession because I think that may be the best empirical data we have on all of this. Anyone want to help me here? |

During a recession, students go to law school. Because the job opportunities are limited to those just getting their BS/BA, many students go straight into school, specifically law. I think you will see that law school admissions were very high during the 90-94 recession.
