I read an article a while ago about this guy who posed as an attorney (from a top 10 law school with good grades) and worked at several big firms for good 5 years or so before he got caught for engaging in some serious misconduct (not job-related) which resulted in his background check which revealed that he wasn't a lawyer at all.
Apparently, the law firms that he worked at didn't verify his credentials on his resume and took it at face value. Can this really be true? If so, how many frauds are out there working at big firms making tons of cash with shitty credentials, or at least decent school but crappy GPA? After all, it's not difficult to lie about your grades and somehow falsify transcripts . . .
I also heard about some girl who lied about her undergraduate GPA to get into a top consulting firm. Is this type of nonsense prevalent?
Outraged honest lawyer
