I agree with the other posters--don't go to law school if you don't want to be a lawyer. Although there are lots of good non-legal jobs for lawyers, most of the good ones are available only after some time practicing law (for example, I-banking or business development at a startup). If you do really well at a really good law school (read top 5 school), you can take your pick of jobs but you will still have to explain why you went to law school not b-school. Get an MBA or, if you must go to law school, get a JD/MBA. An MBA offers a lot more career alternatives. |

it just so happens that it isn't really that difficult to get the jobs you mentioned. I am a recent law school graduate. With absolutely no experience I was able to secure a position as Corporate counsel and Director of business development at an Internet Company. It doesn't take time as a lawyer but rather good timing. The jobs are out there. Most employers realize the rigours associated with getting a law school degree. I was offered five jobs in the computer industry merely because i had what it took to get my JD. I didn;t know that I dodn't want to practice, I just knew that there were other options. My advice to any JD looking for a non legal job is to keep trying. They are out there
