I work in a top 10 law firm. The hours aren't great, but they aren't worse than what I put in during law school. And if I work a total of 3000 actual office hours (which I probably do less than), I still make about $50 an hour with a base of $120k as a third year and bonuses of $20k plus a boom year bonus of $10k. At $150,000, I still have most weekends to spend with my wife who I can afford to support while she finishes her degree. The work is mostly interesting. I don't work in corporate or litigation, so I get to do a lot better work than document preparation.
In essence, I am content. It certainly could be worse. I already make more than my parents, so I would have some nerve to complain. As for the MBA questions, forget it, it would be even more lucrative and prestigious to work on Wall Street, with or without the MBA, but I screwed around in college too much. However, I still pulled it together enough to be where I am. I used to be a whiner, then I put my mind to being where I wanted to be and I am. Of course I want to make more money and work less hours, but I am successful by the standards of 99.9% of the population. The rest can go fuck themselves.
By the way, I am jealous of one group of people, and one group only, those who are independently wealthy and do not work and do a lot of travelling. Maybe one day, I am sure socking away dollars into retirement savings.
