Having graduated in December, I initially was going to start a company, forgoing my long-standing desire to go to law school. The business fell through, and I have decided to follow up on my law school plans. I really don't want to spend a year of my life doing something that won't directly help me attain my goals. Am I too late in the game to squeeze in the backdoor at law schools for Fall 2000? |

You do not mention whether you have taken the LSAT. If you have, I suspect you can still slip into some of the less competitive admission schools. If not, your choices should be limited indeed.
A couple of law schools--John Marshall in Chicago comes to mind--offer January admissions.
I think it's great not to want to waste a year, but I also think you could spend that year doing things that might make you an interesting hire. Take a year of science courses, and get a start on qualifying to take the patent bar. Take the Microsoft software engineer designation courses and
get a leg up on computer law. Get a job in business and get a little experience in that surreal place that passes for a "real world".
Then focus on getting admitted to the school you really want to attend.
Good fortune!
