In Reply To: So I feel money is why we are all working not to hang JD's on the wall and expend $150K on law school and its associated interest payments.
Message: I am encouraged when I see folks who scale the hills notwithstanding that other folks say don't give it a try. I don't have any magic arguments to make against the person who feels that return on investment and fiscal concerns militate against the financial expenditure of law school. I like money--I *really* like money. But for me, money is not the only thing that enters into a career or work decision. Money can add a bit of spark to life, but sometimes it's not enough to keep the fire going---to me, it is rarely enough to make a whole career burning. So I can't drive a stake through the heart of the person who looks only at investment/investment return, but I have to say, sentimental though it might be, that there can be a lot more to it than money. If someone is into ROI and ROI only, so be it. I just don't see it that way. I'm not quite new age enough to say "do what you want and the money will follow", but it sure is nice to think "if going to work is going to be hell, it might as well be in a circle of hell where I get to grapple with interesting issues....". So I say go forth and go back to law school,at whatever age even if the werewolf of doubt can't be killed on a message board....it's not like going to law school at 35 is something hard, like trying to break into acting, sell a novel, or even get a tenure-track English professorship....
