I am going to be attending Columbia Law School in the fall, and I am conteplating getting a JD/MBA. My application is still in with the B-School, but I was wondering on how law firms look upon a JD/MBA. I have heard rumors that firms look down upon JD/MBA's because they think that both degrees are watered down. I have also heard people say that firms are afraid to hire JD/MBA's because they are afraid the lawyer will jump ship to become GC at a company.
I am wanting to get into VC/tech. law in SV. I have a strong tech. background, and I can qualify to take the patent bar exam. I just don't want to get stuck doing patent applications all day. Any ideas? |

On your second question, about having a strong technical background but not wanting to do patent applications all day:
what you are saying is that you wish to be a patent litigator rather than prosecute patents. Rather than spending all day doing PTO work, you would do court litigation. You'll still want to get PTO admitted, but
there's more to patent than prosecution.
