first that post about not bothering if you do not get into a top tier school is ridiculous. Ignore that advice. I go to a top ten school and I can tell you that grades are as important here for landing BIGLAW as they are at tier two schools. There are summer associates in alot of firms from tier two schools. It just that at tier 2 schools only local firms will interview you, a.k.a only in schools in big cities. That being said though you have to do well your first year.
As far as taking a year off -its not totally bad. I did not and wish i had. also I find that older students do better. Firms also appreciate it.
if your that worried retake the LSAT if you think you can significantly increase your score. If you are not going to a top 5 school look very carefully at where you want to practice and go to school there.
