Am I sure? Not totally, but I assume you are asking for the purposes of applying. In terms of that, I would be surprised to learn that there is a shortage of quantitatively qualified S. Asians applying for law school.
Statistics on S. Asians specifically is somewhat hard to find. I know that the census bureau didn't seperately report it. Anecdotally, Columbia has a very strong SALSA and there seems to be no shortage of S. Asian representation. My impression overall is that S. Asians are anything but underrepresented in graduate work in almost all fields.
In summary, I don't think law schools will have to accept applicants with less then their average numbers because there is a large supply of well qualified S. Asians. Again, I do think that S. Asians, like Asians in general, are underrepresented in areas like politics and the judiciary, but I wouldn't expect law schools to try and fix this by accepting a glut of S. Asians. |

i find it hard to believe that any admissions committee is actually sitting around saying, "my god, we need more south asians!" that's parsing things pretty finely, i think.
