Would appreciate any feedback. I graduated from a tier 1 private liberal arts school out in LA, and have spent the last 7 years as an Air Force officer. Finally decided on attending law school last year. I've had a good military career; spent the last 3 years at the Pentagon doing high-level intelligence work, and did well in my intelligence officer training (graduated as the number one). I know I have a strong resume, and I think my personal statement is strong...however, I'm concerned my undergrad GPA from forever ago will hurt me. I had a 2.9 in college, with a downward trend in the last two years, which was when I was president of my fraternity and really involved in ROTC. A lot changes since undergrad, though, when you've been working for a long time. Got a 167 on my LSAT. GTown is my number one choice (went early decision to them), followed by GW, American, and GMU (want to stay in D.C.) I've heard GTown likes prior military applicants...does anyone have any advice? Think I'm setting my sights too high? Thanks in advance. |

I am in a very similar situation. I am a West Point Graduate with a 2.97 GPA. My LSAT was 168 and I have spent the last six years as an artillery and intelligence officer in the Army. Last year, I applied to, and was accepted into both UCLA and USC despite the fact that my GPA was very low on their scale, and my chances were statistically low. I think in this day and age in which the buzzword is "diversity", it pays to be something other than a college graduate taking the next step. Life experience is a big plus in law school apps. And if G'Town likes military applicants, you have a pretty good shot.
