In Reply To: 3.19/157 lsat. (was scoring in the high 60s on timed practice tests. had an anxiety attack on the games, which is my best section. needless to say i'm very torn up about my performance. i'm guessing i got about a 157-160 instead of the 165 i was shooting for.) other thing is i've canceled TWO prior lsats - due to similar attacks of nervousness. i'm a black female. attended a top 10 LAC. majored in Economics. worked at a top 20 law firm as a legal assistant. and now work at a top ten internet company as an analyst. worked 15 hours a week throughout college; great internships during summers in college; great recs; okay extracurriculars. what do you guys think? what are my targets?
Message: isn't there something on the lsac web site that lets you plug in your numbers and see the schools at which you've got a high likelihood of admission? maybe there's someone here who has actual experience with admissions committees. i don't. but i tend to think that work experience of the sort you're describing is dime-a-dozen, and not very important. (what the heck is a "top-10 internet company"? and what would an "analyst" do there? analyze how many quarters the company can continue to chew through cash before firing everyone?) that said, you're hardly screwed. check the lsac site for info on what you need to get into various schools. and yes, figure that being black will help you. someone on these boards posted this url a while ago: http://www.cir-usa.org/articles/mich_aa_charts_internal.html. it's a partisan web site -- "The Center for Individual Rights" -- but those tables are instructive nonetheless. at the university of michigan in 1995, there were seven african-american applicants with your gpa and lsat. four got in. and only two accepted, presumably because the other two got in somewhere better. who knows how things have changed since 1995. but no matter what, you're still looking pretty good, i'd say.
